Focus Group Discussion

Marketing glossary icon

A Focus Group Discussion is a qualitative market research technique. The researcher or research organisation assembles a group of individuals who are representative of a target market. A moderator focuses discussions on a series of topics of interest to the research sponsor. If the target market consists of distinct segments, multiple focus groups, each consisting solely of representatives of a single segment, may be assembled to focus on reactions of that segment without the risk of influence by members of other segments.
