A direct connection refers to a network or communication link established between two devices or systems without the involvement of intermediary devices or additional network components. It allows data transmission or communication to occur directly between the two endpoints.

Examples of direct connections include:

  • Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Networks: Devices within a P2P network establish direct connections to share files or resources without relying on a centralised server.
  • Direct Cable Connection: Connecting two computers using a crossover Ethernet cable or USB cable to share files or establish a network connection directly.
  • Bluetooth or Wi-Fi Direct: Wireless technologies that enable devices (such as smartphones or laptops) to establish direct connections for data sharing or communication without requiring a Wi-Fi network or router.
