Advertising Space Rates – ASR

Marketing glossary icon

Advertising Space Rates (ASR) refer to the cost charged by media outlets, such as newspapers, magazines, websites, or broadcasters, for placing an advertisement within a defined space or time slot. These rates are typically based on factors such as the size or duration of the ad, its placement (e.g. front page, prime time, homepage), audience reach, frequency, and the publication or channel’s perceived value.

ASRs are used by media planners and buyers to estimate and compare the cost-effectiveness of different advertising options. Rates can be listed in media kits or rate cards and may be negotiable, particularly for bulk bookings or long-term campaigns.
