ACORN

ACORN (A Classification of Residential Neighbourhoods) is a consumer segmentation tool developed by CACI, which categorises the UK population based on demographic, social, and lifestyle characteristics. Using postcode data, ACORN groups households into types and categories such as “Affluent Achievers” or “Urban Adversity.” It helps businesses, marketers, and local authorities understand population patterns and target specific consumer groups effectively. ACORN combines data on income, education, housing, and consumption habits, enabling more precise geographic targeting. It is widely used in retail planning, public services, and marketing to tailor strategies to the distinct profiles of different neighbourhoods.
